Rockero

Rockero Bred by Hernan Pieres in Sotogrande, Rockero is the last foal of the great Don Urbano Rolinga (Vasco Mambo x Celosa). Rockero has an absolutely exceptional character and has been a joy to train. His mother Malena was an incredibly quiet mare who broke her leg in a medium goal match against Adolfo Cambiaso and was retired to breeding before reaching her peak. Don Urbano Rolinga was played by Polito Pieres all around the world for almost 10 years, including in the Argentine Triple Crown.

Don Urbano Rolinga's frozen insemination doses are in short supply and cost 5000 EUR. Rockero breeds by live cover in Louchov, Czech Republic.

Pasture Breeding

  • bring your mare in mid-April (tested for Contagious Equine Metritis, we can arrange the test for you with our vet), after quarantine and familiarization over the fence, we will let the band of breeding mares onto a 10 ha pasture with Rockero
  • we can regularly scan the mares to detect pregnancy in case you want to collect the mare sooner
  • Rockero will be pulled from the herd in mid July and all remaining mares will be scanned on the 16th day after his departure
  • collect your mares in late July or leave them on our farm (150 EUR/month, 150 ha of grass and woodlands, sheds for inclement weather) for pasture livery. If the mares stay over the winter, we ask that you supply a suitable blanket, we blanket our pregnant mares too.
  • all vet and farrier fees to be paid separately
  • fee: 1500 EUR, including 3.5 months grass livery; if the mare is not scanned in foal, 1000 EUR will be returned to the mare’s owner
  • LFG - live foal guarantee. In case the mare aborts the pregnancy or the foal is stillborn, your mare can return for service in 2027 with only the livery fee (500 EUR) to be paid

In-hand breeding

  • for playing/performance mares, feel free to bring the mares to the farm when they are in heat
  • mares need to be tested for Contagious Equine Metritis
  • cost: 1000 EUR, 15 EUR/day for grass livery (includes grass/hay and water)
  • LFG - live foal guarantee. In case the mare aborts the pregnancy or the foal is stillborn, your mare can return for service in 2027 free of charge

Breeding & Retirement

If you have a mare under 18 years of age, who has played polo and perhaps suffered an injury that makes her no longer suitable for riding, we will have a look – for selected mares, we are happy to let them run with Rockero for the summer free of charge. If the mare is scanned in foal, we will retain the mare and guarantee a happy retirement in a big herd after her breeding days are over. If the mare does not get pregnant, we only ask the owner to cover the delivery and pickup of the horse – we will cover the livery and vet/farrier fees for the summer.
